Robert's family on 1861 I have got - Sarah Ellen is OH gt grandmother (I missed a gt out before with robert who is of course gt gt grandfather)

interesting to see them all together - I think have have done in the past but forgotten as I have been working on the other side of the family and my own family for quite some time instead

Although only 43% of LAN and 36% of WRY is transcribed for 1861 at FreeCEN:

3048 covers Blatchinworth subdistrict (in Rochdale RD) which includes Littleborough
One can search FreeCEN by occup, e.g., for Pub* and Inn* - for some reason the latter also catches Spinners

the Abraham Mitchell on the 1869 probate was age 48 when he died so born c1821 so could not be that Abe's father

Could the probate for Abraham Mitchell in 1869 be Abraham's father I wonder as this brewer in still alive in 1891.

I suspect that the 1861 with John & Lydia Law is a marriage between John and a Lydia Greenlees in 1831 at St Chad's Rochdale where many marriages from Todmorden took place - thanks Dea

Dea - the area is confusing for county

in 1841 census Todmorden & Walsden was Lancashire but Langfield (part of Todmorden) was Yorkshire - parish of Halfax!

I never know which county to use when searching the area

as you have probably noticed the names Sutcliffe and Law are not exactly uncommon

I have a Lydia Law in another part of the tree but she is married to Wilson Law

Could the occupation of this one be a 'Maltster' ?? (i.e a Brewer?)
