Unfortunately for BMD,s you need Scotlands People website which isn't free. You have to buy units to view them and can order certs through the site for those that arent viewable online |

Kath, not seeing a death on Scotlandspeople for Margaret Quillen maiden surname Terry. Maybe Margaret and the other children followed at a later date? |

rootgather, they are not on the US census living with James only their son James b1875 is there. |

Kath, to be honest I'm not 100% convinced that the immigration record is your James. As you say, the census records indicate that they arrived together 1887 but that one is definitely not with a son. There are quite a few James Quillan/Quillens in US so that record may be another person. However, I'll leave it even if just for elimination. |
