I wonder if anyone knows about George Heywood, born in Salford, and discharged from the Australian Army in Sydney in 1919?

Message received from John :
Hi
thanks for the post
He was born in Salford and went to Australia then joined the Army there and served in World War 1, then returned to Australia and was discharged, where I've lost track. His father was James Heywood from Manchester ..............
I have advised him how to reply on here.
John,
Do you know roughly when he was born please?
Also, do you know if he had a middle name as there are a couple to choose from ?
Any other details will also help, e.g. his father's occupation etc.?

Thanks all
I have his service record, but nothing after he was discharged on medical grounds.
He was born in Salford in February 1878 and was a tailor when he went to Australia

Wow. So much so quickly - many thanks.
Yes Lynski, that's him in the censuses
Susan when I tried searching the Australian census I found it hard to get to an index of surnames, so got stuck there. Can I get free access to the electoral rolls? George was apparently discharged from the army after WW1 on invalid grounds, so I'm wondering if he died in Australia?
George Eric would be his son.

This could be his death reg ,parents James and Mary he married Matilda in the UK.
Australia Death Index, 1787-1985 about George Heywood Name: George Heywood Death Date: 1927 Death Place: New South Wales Father's Name: James Mother's Name: Mary Registration Year: 1927 Registration Place: North Sydney, New South Wales Registration number: 7515 I use Ancestry and I can looku up Electoral Rolls ,does this sound like the correct one.
Edit
New South Wales Electoral Rolls start 1930 so he was already dead then if this is him.

I cannot see a sign of Matilda anywhere here in OZ or in the UK remarrying or Dying so I don't know where she went.
The death reg looks like him but with no birth date it is hard to say it is him . His parents where James and Mary on his military record and I think it is him as a 13 year old on the 1891 census I previously posted above at 10.44
It might be worth getting the Death Reg to be sure.

Thank you for doing that - could well be him. He had gone out to OZ first, and the rest of the family didn't follow after the war, so I can trace them here.
I'll check the death reg, but it looks like the end of that chapter of the Heywoods, so back to early 19th century Lancashire !
thanks again for your help
John :-)
