Thats so strange, that was the reason I couldnt find a thing about this family until 1911 census released and I found him and then I am able to go back further with everyone's and your helps. x

Yes it has confused me and it WILL confuse my Dad!

Leonard Stanyard married Cecila Isabella Denman in 1865 and they kept the name Stanyard, but for some reason his son Frederick christened his children Stanyard Denham and at some point they seem to have dropped Stanyard completely.

This name change is on the census records not just Ancestry. Families sometimes do this and I sometimes think it is just to confuse their descendants!! :-)

Hello? x

Nanaki

Nanaki Report 27 Apr 2012 11:55

I wondered why on Ancestry we are using Stanyard not Denman which is easy to find? Can anyone answer this?

Thanks

I will speak to Dad later tonight. Because he possibly remembered few people such as his great aunts and uncles names. I already told him that I need his Mum's original birth cert to confirm her parents names. x

Nanaki

Nanaki Report 24 Apr 2012 17:11

Hmmm thank you Gins for this. Like I said before I will order the birth certs for Frederick and Mary (his wife) and they will then reveal their parents' names.

I will print this thread and keep it for future refences. :)
