Yes, I do like to try and work backward , from what people actually know--as to work the other way seems to be when a lot more mistakes are made. |

Thanks barbara and jonesy, you have given me so much info. Yes, probably right, that mark is not mine, and more likely to be the one who died in ossy in 1875. Think its better if i get that certificate first. Yes, barbara, those ossy ones are mine, i am descended from richard, marks brother. The only reason i was tracking mark(the wrong one i now see) is to get an angle on thomas's dad john. This is the thomas who married ann hurst/hirst in 1844 in ossy . Id looked for marriages of some of the others, but only found george and james and richard marrying. Thomas and ann had nine children until thomas remarried in the 1860's after annes death. Have found no marriage for betty born 1844 though she could be down as a hurst/hirst as she was born before their marriage. No marriage for nancy born 1851, or for thomas born 1853 and ann born 1856. Or jane born 1861. Thomas senior died in burnley in 1890, he commited suicide, inquest in paper. |

For information, I am descended directly from richard duxbury, born 1845 in oswaldtwistle, second child, first son, of thomas duxbury born approx 1823 in Rishton -ish. He married ann hurst/hirst in 1844 at emmanuel church in oswaldtwistle. They had nine children before ann's death and then he remarried agnes(agness) fairburn nee alderson , he was in burnley on the 1871 census by this time. He was in marsden with his son george and other son james on the 1881, whilst agnes was still back in burnley. |

Just to add barbara, richard duxbury died in wombwell, he married hannah smith . They had two children before his death, abel and pathinia, who i think were born in wombwell. |

But hannah and her two children moved back to burnley and hannah remarried to a william jones from france. Abel duxbury married elizabeth parr and had leonard duxbury think about 1890. Its that long since ive looked at them. Then leonard married my great gran Mary hannah pickles and had my grandad herbert duxbury. Herbert married mabel hocking and had my mum . So its all correct until thomas and i can not get further back than him, due to John being such a common name . ! :-) |

Yes, thanks barbara, you have the right family. Think Richard died in the 1870's , will check, but have been so sidetracked with trying to get further back that ive not looked at richard etc for years. He died in wombwell, area anyway, very young. Hannah came back with children. Think poor pathinia died young too, her husband , william cundy gilbert remarried after her death. Dont think they had any surviving children. But Abel had some, one of which was leonard. Abel married elizabeth parr, daughter of allen parr and they were originally from wigan. William cundy gilbert was from cornwall. |

opps, yes, my memory playing tricks. was sure he died in barnsley. He was very young, ive not got death certificate but another cousin has somewhere. Hannah smith remarried to william jones, born in paris apparently. Think they went on to have arthur jones. Yes, thats pathinia. Shame none of their children survived past early years. |
