Lisa - are there any old relatives who may be able to verify who Rose married? I'd hate to think we've gone off on a wrong tangent.
Does anyone know where and when Rose died? We could at least check the birth year on her death record against the other records found.

Sorry, I must be missing something!
Where does Matilda born 1915 come into it? Rose married Joseph Bridger in 1916, so is this a daughter she had before?
Must be:
England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915 Name: Matilda Bays Mother's Maiden Name: Bays Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1915 Registration district: Hackney Inferred County: Greater London, London, Middlesex Volume: 1b Page: 928

Thought I'd go back to the original Judes for a while.
Re-reading that newspaper article about the bigamy, it said Daniel Jude had been living with a woman for 9 years (that was in 1895) so this must be them in 1891:
JUDE, Daniel Head Married M 33 1858 Plate Excavator Barrington Cambridgeshire JUDE, Annie Wife Married F 44 1847 Comberton Cambridgeshire CLARK, Mary F 13 1878 Clapton Middlesex
Registration District: West Ham Civil Parish: West Ham Municipal Borough: West Ham
Address: 22, New Street, West Ham, Stratford County: Essex
Wonder if she's the one he didn't marry in 1888?

Is this Daniel senior finally getting married legitimately?
London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921 Name: Daniel Jude, widower, a labourer of 42 Ansty Street. Age: 60 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1861 Spouse Name: Annie Layton, widow of 62 Ansty Street Spouse Age: 50 Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 17 Jul 1921 Parish: Rotherhithe St Mary Borough: Southwark Father Name: William Jude (deceased) Spouse Father Name: Henry Houghton (deceased) Register Type: Parish Register
Witnesses: Henry South and George Wiskin.
Wonder if this is the same Annie he was with in 1891? (No, perhaps not, that one was quite a bit older than him).

Lisa, I'm guessing that Mary Clark was perhaps the daughter of the Annie he was with in 1891. Census says Annie was his wife but doubt that they were actually married.
Not sure when Mary Green/Mead/Parry died but bearing in mind that the marriage between her and Daniel senior wasn't valid then he wouldn't have to wait for her to die before he married again (sounds awful, but you know what I mean!)
I'm not sure that it's the same Annie now I've looked at the info again. The Annie he was with in 1891 was born 1847 ish whereas the one he married in 1921 was born around 1871 - quite a difference.

London, England, Electoral Registers, 1847-1965 Name: Annie Jude Electoral Year: 1922 Parliamentary Division: Bermondsey County or Borough: Southwark
Living at 42 Ainsty Street, Rotherhithe with Daniel. Also at no 42 were a John and Matilda Sargent. (May have been a rooming house). 42 Ansty Street was the address on the 1921 marriage.
From 1924 to 1927 Annie is still at the same address, along with John and Matilda Sargent - but there is no mention of Daniel.
From 1929 she is living at 5 St Mary's Place, Rotherhithe. She's on her own that year but from then on until 1933 there is also an Alfred Joseph and Mary Theresa Cahill with her. Again, no mention of Daniel. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have found a Daniel Jude living alone at various addresses in Hackney from 1926 to 1931. Looks like the marriage of Daniel and Annie didn't work out.

Think I've found Daniel senior in 1911:
JUDE, David Head Married M 53 1858 General Labourer Cambridge Cambridge JUDE, Annie Wife Married 7 years F 46 1865 Devonshire Mosten Hampstead Registration District: Edmonton Sub District: East Tottenham Enumeration District: 4 Parish: Tottenham Address: 5 Arthur Road Tottenham County: Middlesex
The name on the original is definitely Daniel. The "married for 7 years" is probably a fabrication. It states that Annie had borne 3 children, all still alive. Whether they were with Daniel or someone else is anyone's guess!
Heaven knows if Daniel went through a phase of only having relationships with women if they were called Annie, or if it's the same one. The birth years and birthplaces are all over the place.

Gracious, what's Daniel senior been up to now, lol, 1911 looks good, the 1891 had me boggled too.
Can see him at home, Barrington 1881, Father dies 1882, Mother goes on until 1902...Marriage Banns Cambridge 1882 to a Selah Chapman (says not listed as Married)...
Probably he was doing railway work, Barrington and Foxton are across the railway line from each other, (with a level crossing these days) most of them would have found work, and a lot went on to Stratford, West Ham way with rail work. Then seems Daniel discovers Hackney, and his life is now being uncovered, lol, lol.
Marry Perry lost her Father 1879, and her Mother 1873, she then seemed to errm...wander!. (she came from Fowlmere, which then was Foulmire, near Barrington, Cambs.)
Phew!, what next, I wonder...
Chris :)
edits (wonder what things say on Birth Cert. of Daniel William Jude)
