I doubt that people in Nottingham in 1911 had heard of Crook and/or Billy Row, but Newcastle was somewhere known to most

You're probably right there. The 1891 has all the children born in Nottinghamshire which is obviously wrong.

I stand corrected I thank you all and seeing some of these replies can see why I struggle to getta grip with it think need to re read on a clear head but reading briefly it would seem that Joanna was from Geordie Newcastle.

If she was born in Co Durham, she was not from Newcastle. ;-) ;-)
