I am at a brick wall and not sure where to go next. I have purchased the marriage cert of a relative whom i know to be Samuel Thompson and his wife Sarah Ann Gosling in holbeach in 1916 (this is the area associated with this family to my knowledge) From his age at marriage i know he was born around 1888. His father is listed as James Thompson, deceased. The trouble is i cannot find samuel, there are too many options coming up on Ancestry and none of them is obviously the samuel i am looking for. There may be a possibilty of a Durham, Norwich connection. I feel that should be enough info to get me going but just cant think how. Can anyone help me work out a next step? |

Hello Flicky - what was Samuel's occupation on his marriage certificate? Did it give an address for him? |

Hello there, samuel was a farm labourer from dawesmere and his fathers previous occupation was the same. The witnesses were charles henry gosling (brides father) and an Ethel (perhaps as first name hard to read) Jeffery. The church is at Gedney Drove End |

Hi kath , oh dear, i think i may have the wrong death then because.according to his marriage cert it would make his birth about 1888. Getting myself all tied up with this one! |

Ann and vera, i have come across that link earlier tonight too. It cold be a strong contender but i feel i think at the moment i dint have the evidence to know for certain- i will take another look at that one though since we have all thought it a possibility! Im sure its possible that his birth date is not correct on the census too. Thank you ladies :) |

People often tell lies about their age on marriage certificates so I would take that with a pinch of salt. |

Possible kath as his bride was 6 years younger than him already with the birth he gave. They are proving an elusive family to research! |
