Interesting what a close connection the minister John W Sampson had with that family!
Executor on most of their wills, obviously family friend.

and Henry Hardstaff appears to have been a very trusted employee ... he's on both the 1841 and 1851 censuses
In fact, he's Head and Landed Proprietor at Hatch Beauchamp in 1861 :-D
1861 Census
Name: Henry Hardstaff Age: 59 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1802 Relation: Head Spouse's Name: Elizebeth Hardstaff Gender: Male Where born: Munsfeild, Nottinghamshire, England Civil parish: Hatch Beauchamp County/Island: Somerset Country: England Registration district: Taunton Sub-registration district: North Curry
Henry Hardstaff 59 Landed Proprieter Elizebeth Hardstaff 43 b.ca 1818, Shirland, Derbyshire Richard H Hardstaff 5 Martha E Hardstaff 4 Gertude C Hardstaff 3 Eliza B Escott 34 Adelaide Palmer 28 Louisa Palmer 26 Mary C Humphreys 16 Sarah Pinney 22 Robert Bryant 20
all non-Hardstaff are servants
Ooooh, I would love to see that will !!!!!!
In 1851, he is shown as Servant, and I think as M.S. in 1841 (very faint)
so a quick rise in status!!

Lol Sylvia, you know us all too well!.
Just to add the Occupation of Daniel Woolhouse on the Marriage Cert. says Gentleman, (Find My Past have the actual images) think somewhere Sheila said she couldn't make it out...
Also, noted Executor to his Will was Henry Hardstaff (found in index to death duty registers 1796 - 1903 Find My Past)
All very interesting!.
