Nope, I can't find her in 1881. Have tried for over a year with many permutations. |

Nicola - chin up! A quick (irrelevant) question - have YOU found her in 1881? Nobody else seems to have! |

I quite enjoyed the exercise even though I didn't find Edith A in 1901.Still think she is in Paris with sister buying frocks for the wedding. |

The passenger list says Mrs. E + Miss H !! (old fashioned 'double s' looks like a 'p') |

Regarding the passenger list Ivy found.......I cannot read the name after the E in Mrs E Denton..........next to Mrs Dentons name in the column " Adults of 12 years and upwards" it states 2. |

Edith A's sister, Ethel Marion b 1872 Chorlton married in 1901 late in the year. Can't find her in 1901 either. Wonder if they went shopping to France for the wedding. |

- what about the French maid in 1911? I note that she is a British subject by parentage, which perhaps suggests that she might have only been in France for a short period after birth - or might Edith have brought her back from a visit to Paris? |

One problem is that they had such an extended view of family. I had trouble finding my ggg grandmother in 1851, until I discovered that she had been previously married and was visiting her deceased first husband's little sister shortly after the little sister had married.... |
