I think that he was married before, but have not got a marriage cert for that. Also on other information received from posts I have done it looks like his father could be called Thomas from a birth cert I have. |

No they didn't have to provide a birth cert, Sometimes if a child was illegitimate they made up a fathers name, for proprietary sake with the spouses family. they would say too deceased so no checking could be done. |

I have a marriage cert for a George Wenham in the year 1895, with his father's name as George (deceased). I would like to know if a fathers name could be given wrong or did they have to provide a birth certificate? |
