Have been in contact with both Gipping and Waveney registry offices and they have been most helpful alas still no record of Matildas birth :-( |

Karen, According to the info below the BMD registeres are now held at Suffolk (Stowmarket) and Suffolk (Lowestoft). |

Just checked the index from jan quarter 1863 to dec quarter 1866 and nothing but their are no Aldous births for july quarter 1864,? |

Jax, Births were sometimes registered late even after it became a legal requirement in 1875 to register within 6 weeks |

I have found that with one of my gt gt grandmothers she was baptised but not registered but the rest of her siblings were...so it did happen, maybe just overlooked at the time? |

Yes Roy I am sure that is definitely her christening july 1864 .I did see that date on Deborrahs tree(as birth date though) that she shared with me a few months ago but have been unable to contact her as to where she got the date from. |

There is an unsourced tree on Ancestry that has her dob as 31 Jul 1864, but it has no parents for her. |
