great grandfather was William Dawe born in Liverpool in 1879.

I assume you don't have his birth certificate ?

It should tell you if his father was George Thomas and hopefully give the previous names for his mother.

It could mean that George ashiel Bright is NOT your 3x Gt Grandfather at all.

PM RECEIVED.

Im'e sorry but hav'nt got his birth certificate because I don't know his birthday I have tried looking it up but don't seem to be able to find it I know he died in about 1960s aged about 82 I was only a child and did'nt really know him. I would like to thank you for your help. Regards Lin

------------------------------------

Are you sure his middle name was James ?

Acording to 1881 census posted on page 1, Wiliam was W.J. aged 2.

If you look on freebmd you will see that this is the likely birth certificate for him. ( you don't need his exact birthday as you apply using the reference numbers)

I can't get my head round this one.

Why on earth would they remarry in 1871.
Where is George 1841/51.
1861 in Royal Navy did he go awol or something.

Only George Bright born 1832 in Somerset has the parents Thomas Bright 1803 and Jane 1802 (Note George gave himself second name Thomas )
1841 Bath Somerset.

From the webpage that Maureen found ......

John Dawe (no details known) and Mary Adams (1787 - 1850)
Thomas Dawe (1815 - 1875) and Elizabeth Triggs (1815 - 1894)
Mary Selina Dawe (1844 - 1924) and George Ashiel Bright (1832 - 1920

----------------------

When Mary Selina married George Bright, she was Mary Selina ADAMS Dawe.
I wondered where the Adams came from as she was born to Elizabeth Triggs who then married Thomas Dawe.

Mary Report 11 Feb 2012 14:46

??Abraham Bright 1761 -1818 married Sarah Anscell 8/10/1785 they had James 1794 died 1871 in Victoria Australia states son of Abraham.

So is Anscell the middle name of George Ashiel Bright.
Looks like it to me,given that George states his dad was James.

I know this is nothing to do with the question asked, but I like to find the background on the families I search for.

There are lots of records for a James Bright going to Australia, but I don't know which apply to George's dad.
