Simon,

His Bancruptcy record would be why he died penniless.... he wasn't just a surgeon he was an Apothecary too..... so maybe he made some bad business decisions?

I mean i can imagine back then, medicines were expensive, and if he invested in the things people didn't really need, he might have whittled away his money.

Simon Report 29 Jan 2012 20:53

Yes, I have searched Lancs OPC and been to Preston to look at the records there.
I have found plenty about John but nothing on his parents and why he died penniless.

The Ag Labs are not the Heatleys.

The Heatleys were easy to find back to John 1813 as they were all in Manchester.

John Heatley wasn't born in Manchester and I doubt to an Ag Lab.
My grandmother told me that there was a doctor in the family.
He died penniless somehow as well
A mystery is John.

Thanks for having a go,
A real mystery how we can't find a surgeons parents.
I have AG Labs from 100+ years before.

Thank you all. I have the Emily Peters links and I know Abraham's BiL was Joseph Simmonds but I do not know his wife's details. Up to now I have been struggling to get the info above on Abraham and so did not explore the Brother and Sister in Law further. That will be my next few days task once I have tied in the above. Thank you all for your great help.
