Thanks everybody, you have all helped me a lot. Some of the details I knew, but you have now confirmed them. I now have enough to complete my research into Emily Barnard as far as I want to go. |

Mel, No, according to the details I have, Matilda stayed single, Clara married Joseph Halstead, Georgina married John Sharpe, and Emily married Herbert William Sharpe (my grandfather). |

I dont suppose getting married was the big thing back then as it is now. |

MarieCelete, What I thought odd was that siblings born in 1865,1868, and 1869 (then a widow), should all get married on the same day. That's why I had my doubts. The date for Samuel Barnard's death is about right. |

I know LB - I was starting to wonder if Samuel's first wife was called "Ball" - then I twigged! Doh! |

1891 shows that Samuel may have already been married, the grandchild may be his son: |

Bert, joint wedding weren't uncommon - saved money that way. |

MarieCeleste, I got a lot of information from the Family Research website. The marriage records for Clara, Georgina and Emily Popple show the date 26 December 1895. It is possible, but I have my doubts. |

Based on the 1891 that Margee posted above, this is possibly the Barnard family in 1871: |

To all respondents, thanks a lot. I already have got some of the details, but I did not know of Samuel Barnard. It seems as if she was widowed before she met my Grandfather, which solves most of the confusion. I'll have to research that side a bit more. |
