Hi

I am looking for information relating to William Holyome, he was married to Lily Walter who was born 1886, died 1922 I think.
They had 4 children; William, Albert, Elizabeth and Ivy. I am linked to Ivy's line through her marriage to Albert White.

I have conflicting information relating to William Holyome, one contact states he was born in 1880, another says he was born in 1889 and died in 1962.
More confusing is the reference to his father, one states it was another William Holyome (1851-1916) who was married to Joyce Jones (1850-1917).... another reference has the father as Thomas Holyome b1859? and married to Emily? b1861?
Before I go further back I need to know which is the correct line to follow as William and his father both have conflicting information.

Some confusion over ages and DoB's for William..... on the marriage information posted by Val, it shows his age in 1911 to be 26. Assuming he is the William from the 1901 census, the information for him with his family, shows him to be 11 (which would make him 21 in 1911 for his marriage).
It could be that it is the wrong William, however if it is the one shown in Jan's post as a son of William & Joyce, then he would 30 when married and again the marriage information from Val says 26.....

On the marriage register, William's father Thomas is a Carman

William and Lily both give their address as 12 Chapman Road

Val's 1911 post would seem to be the correct family

William's father Thomas was a carman, William Henry was a polisher. Address for bride and groom given as 12 Chapman Rd.

I have looked at the original image of the marriage record on Ancestry

and all the information matches the 1911 census

Thomas's occupation is a "Car Man" the same on both image's and so is William's occupation " Polisher" it's just his age that's different by a few years

That's due to the transcription.........you must always allow for errors, and problems with reading indistinct handwriting.

Don't expect everything to be exact..........or you'll get very frustrated
