I have got the certificate. Whats my nest move. I was so excited when it arrived I got my wife to read it out oer the phone when I was at work.

This is the certificate of Marraige between, Richard Kirkham and Veronica Cartmell.

It confirms everything you have sent me above.

Regarding the Schweitzer/Cartmell conundrum - if the father acknowledged the birth and went to register it with the mother, then I believe the child could be registered in the father's name. (But someone will tell me if I'm wrong!!)

It might be interesting to get Gerard's birth certificate to see what it says. I'll send you the details by message as it's too recent to post on here.

We can then follow up on the father if you want to pursue that line. I've had a quick look at US Service Records but it's a surprisingly common surname.

Danny, I'd strongly recommend that you copy and paste all the information on here into a word document, or something similar.

That way, if the thread did get pulled then you won't have lost all the information.

You'll notice that yesterday I suggested you went back to your first post and edited it (you just click on the edit button and then you can go into the post and make amendments). Some people on here are sticklers for rules and get a bit trigger happy with their reporting fingers!

I think it was because you left your mothers date of birth on view, so someone reported it

I have mentioned this on the suggestions page , because it is out of order if Genes delete the whole thread for one little mistake, which could have been sorted

When you recieve the marriage cert, hopefully it will state that his father is George and a Roofer or some such....There is a good chance it may say deceased and no occupation

There are no more Census available after 1911 so you can only go by marriage and birth certs. Richard did not use his middle inital when he married? maybe he just thought it was his Middle name? I know my grandmother had the same problem until she got a copy of her birth cert. when she found out that the two middle names she had been using for 50 years neither were the same as the one she had on her birth cert.

Also you think there should be eleven or so children? there was only one after 1911 and that was Richard, unless either of them married again?

Maybe George died in ww1 or do you know otherwise?

I can't wait for the cert to get here.

My Grandad Richard died in Feb 2003.

I think we have the right kirkhams above though as my mother said that he had a brother sam a sister and his dad was george also that his mom was Polly but that could have been a nickname.

Is there anyway I can check if Richard lived with the Kirkham family a year later.

There are no Richard A's that I can see... when and where did he die?

As to them being your gt grandparents you will need to see your grandparents marriage cert to see who vera/Veronica names as her father.

The Richard Kirkham in 1912 May be a coincidence. I am nearly certain his second name was augustine.

As my cousin is named after him and hates it hahaha.

Would I be right in saying that must be my great grandparents Jax. I only met her once when when I was 8. At her 100th birthday.
