A point worth remembering is that divorce was really only the prerogative of the wealthy back then so when a marriage broke down the couple would often simply move into another relationship. The fact that Mary declared herself as a widow when she married John Speakman may or may not have been true. The fact that the couple had a child together in 1906 whilst unmarried would indicate that in all probability John Booth was still alive at that time. I would look for him in the 1911 census. |

I can see no other marriage apart from the 1918 one for Speakman/Booth. If the 1911 census is your Mary, it says they have been married for 6 years. THis may well be to cover the age of the daughter born 1906, but suggests one or other of them may have not been free to marry before 1918 (John seems to be single in 1901). So if you are still wondering what happened to John Booth as per your first post, the window for his death I would think is still at least up to 1918. |

Well on the 1911 image they state that they have been married for six years, no doubt to make the birth of their first child seem "respectable" |
