His Military records don't seem to have survived as about 70% were lost. If you knew where the family were living in 1917 he will be named either in the Parish Church Memorial or the Local War Memorial. |

On the 1901 census Sarah Hunking is the Head of the house but I think that there is a line deviding her from Joanna and family. I think that the confusion is caused as Joanna is listed as Wife probably because John is working away, rather than Head. I think the are lodging at that address as it is the same house address as Sarah. |

In 1901 Joanna Maria Short ms Pozzi was living in Toxteth, Liverpool. She was aged 34. In 1901 she had 6 children, but only 5 were with her during the census. On the census it has `Sarah Hunkin` as the mother of Elizabeth Stuart Short, aged 11, but her mother was Joanna. |
