However, we still can't directly connect James with this family. I'd say he was definitely related. Considering his birth year and the year John & Maria married it's a possibility he may have been born before. There is no James Rogers' baptism though so it's very likely he was a Seymour.

My instinct is to go for the 3rd one as there are no Rebeccas or Fannys in his family, but there is an Eliza and an Elizabeth. However he may not have been born in Hertfordshire at all.

Thanks Kucinta. 1841 census. I have James Seymour, 1821 and Geo. Seymour, 1823, both farm labourers at Bride Hall, Sandridge; both born Herts.
Bride Hall is only about 5 miles from where I was born in St Albans. It's possible that I could have been influenced by this fact? Maybe that's not my James at all.

Must try to access his baptism record.

HI JEC, if you look at the work Ozi and Sylvia have done, it looks almost certain that it is your James in census 1841 I posted, living with his mother Maria Marlborough, previously Seymour, nee Rodgers, and stepfather and some sibs.
