Her name may look like myer but on the image the Z of mizen is written like a long 3 > mi3en if you had credits enough to scroll through that particular enumerators hand writing I.m sure other z's look the same

By the time she died the workhouse was more like an infirmary, maternity ward etc
not a place to be ashamed of.

I had used the credits before I read your post. I had found your Hetty on Ancestry, but I thought as you had come up with it so quickly, you had found something I could not. Am in coantact with all of them and Hilda is on their trees though me. I have found new relatives that we didn't know existed. we are the illegitimate line as Esther went on to get married and have two other children. Edith only died in 2007 but I have made contact with the other Daughter's family which we are delighted about. Thank you for your help. I will try and follow up the Myer lead.

you could try to trace up whether there was any relationship between the adoptive parents and Hilda's mother ...... eg, the wife's maiden name.

Why did you do that I knew Hetty was not her thats why I deleted it to save any confusion.

There was no legal adoption until 1927 so they could use their birth name if they chose to...sometimes they took the new families name

just used all my credits up on Hetty Tryphena Mizen. Unfortunately, I don't think this is her. Have had a look at Hilda Myer adopted. If she was adopted, would she not have taken her new parents name..
