I have traced my ancestors on my maternal grandfather's side up until John Mounser born c 1803. He was married to Amelia and was father to Arthur, John , Thomas and Eliza and died in 1848 in Howden, Yorkshire. I cannot find any information about his birth or marriage and would like to find out who his parents were. I know that there were several different spellings of the surname and it probably derived originally from 'Monsieur'. Can anyone help?
