Im not 100% sure if easy and harriet are my great grandfathers parents gwyn as I found another member of the family on here whos husbands father was my grandads brother, she has James speller and mary ann coleman down as thier parents.

Hi rowland, I commented on one of your posts a week or so ago about this...I know that my great grandfather Charles Speller had brothers called Henry and William, there may of been more but im unsure. My grandfather is James frederick Speller, he was one of 9 (I think). I know that my grandfather was born in Kensignton, but not sure about my great grandfather. I think my great grandfather Charles 's parents were called easy speller and Harriet.. So its possible that my great grandfather is your great grandfathers brother.

I am also trying to find Spellers. My great grandfather is Henry Speller (born circa 1869) and he married Caroline Hughes (b1874). The registered birthplace for both of the above on the 1911 census is "Surry Parish Bermondsey". They had a number of chidren and they have varying birthplaces including Bermondsey, Camberwell, Lewisham and Deptford. My grandfather was Frank Victor Speller (b1915 Camberwell) and my father is David Frank Speller born 1941 Bromley.

The W end of Old Ford Rd is 1 block N of Bethnal Green tube station.

K - I'm guessing it's not a short b.cert that you found, but just an entry in the GRO index. Even a short b.cert gives birth date.

I will do mavis but I am sure this is my family as I have also found another member of the family searching the same tree. She is married to one of the sons of my grandfathers brothers, the brothers name is charles steven. Most of the names I put in matched hers, she confirmed its the correct family, and told me a little of what she knows. I have seen her tree so got more info from that, I just havent had time to put it onto mine yet..
I have found a short birth certificate for my grandfather on genes reunited and attached it to my grandfathers name. Im sure its correct. Thank you mavis.

YOU still need to get a copy of your gr father's birthcert -- James F Speller 1913 to confirm that the family people have found for you is the right family of Spellers.
you need to prove they are the right family.

Otherwise you may well be barking up the wrong tree !!!!
