Hiya

Can anyone help me find his birth PLEASE!!!!!!! I have no idea where he was born, family members think it may be Hereford/Welsh borders - but so far have found no recorded birth of the three names in that particular order.

I have his marriage certificate in 1936 to Ada K Elsom in Birmingham West Midlands and also his death cert in 1957, again in Birmingham BUT in the name of James Albert Thomas Jones, the family provided me with these certs. His brother in law recorded his death and family think he just got the names in the wrong order.

The Jones side called him Bert but to the Elsom side he was known as James..

I am hoping that I have missed something glaringly obvious in solving my problem and would love some of you to put me straight

thanks for reading this regards Linda

Happy to help Linda

Dea, Great minds.....!

Being Albert on census would explain why he was known as Bert.

Hi, My great grandad was Selwyn Gladwin and he's the boarder in 1911 census. His trade was coachpainter, and I know definitely that after 1912 he worked at Sunbeam but that was Wolverhampton. I wondered if they were colleagues (as Allen is coach builder) or as there is a Dymock link, if they were related in some way. The lady he married (Kate Elsie King) had a grandmother whose surname was Allen. I would love to hear any info you have on this
Best wishes
Emma

Hi Emma and welcome to the boards.

If you ned help on tracing your Selwyn it would be best to start a new thread on here rather than tag onto the end of this very old one.

In case it helps, here is Selwyn mistranscribed on 1891 with his parents and widowed grand-father:
