Thanks for replies. Yes Astra that's a weird coincidence isn't it.I wonder if it could be mine? I've seen so many spellings over the years of this name.This would explain why I can't find out anything about Charles. |

It was just a thought that he may have used his mother's maiden name as a middle name therefore being Elijah Palphrey Mann. You never know. |

Or maybe his parents weren't married? The next clue I have about Elijah is that he moved to Cheshire and attended both Stockport and Macclesfield sunday schools. |

I have Elijah's marriage cert and on it his father is named as Charles Palfreyman but having said that maybe he couldn't write . |

I can't find any death or census record for an Elijah Mann so this theory is looking more likely. |

Thanks Pam. My Elijah had a son Elijah and his death is the 1886 one in Birkenhead. Elijah senior died in 1872 as a pauper. |
