Hello Gavin. Where did you get the Rebecca/turn-of-the-century information, and exactly what is it?

Hello again, apologies for the late response, In a fit of desperation I did a google search and surprisingly came up with a link to the history of glass production
http://www.broseley.org.uk/miscfiles/GlassHist.pdf
quite informative on a number of Pagets but not mine I don't think. Not sure if I am holding myself back because of an assumption......
Cheers

Wow, what an interesting find the glass-blowing history is. However looking at their entry for Benjamin Padgett(Pagett), it says he's living with his wife, Rebecca, in 1851.
Now, either they've made a mistake or I have found a different Benjamin. I've checked the image so I know for certain there is no Rebecca recorded in the household in 1851 for the gent I found.
I'm fairly positive the 1841 is the same Benjamin because of his granddaughters, Sarah and Harriett. Remember 1841 doesn't show relationships, and ages were usually rounded down to the nearest 5 years for people over 15. So Sarah and Harriet's ages being one year out in 1851 fit.
What is it about your Benjamin that makes you believe he wasn't a glass-blower. You say you don't know his occupation. Do you have his death cert?

BTW, no need to apologize for your delays. As I'm in Australia I also am delayed in answering you.

Good evening, ( or possibly morning on your side of the world ) I have neither. My theory is based solely on geography and the prevalence of the name in that location. One thing that is weird, is that I cannot locate Richard after the birth of his children. Couldn't locate a record of death that fit, and have issues with what happened to the family, as I seem to find the only relevant date record for Benjamin the younger, living with his grandparents and a sibling. This stuff is so confusing......

So checking out your Richard Bagger Pagett, I found this website which I hope you've seen as well.
http://www.huttoncroft.co.uk/familyhistory/benson/indiI10354.html
According to this website, I have found your Benjamin and Sarah in 1841, and widowed Ben in 1851. The Ben who is married to Rebecca is a brother of your Richard. However it seems they are as stuck as you, as they don't know who Sarah is, and they don't know the parents of granddaughters, Sarah and Harriett.
They also have nothing about Richard Bagger Pagett after his christening. What evidence have you that he is your ancestor? Sorry about all the questions but every little bit of info helps.

Oooohhhh, this is where it all gets a little vague. My oldest definite link is from Benjamin Pagetts marriage certificate from his marriage to Emma Hayward, his first wife in December of 1845. on this certificate, it shows his father as Richard, shoemaker. This is repeated in his marriage in 1860 to Elizabeth Edge, which due to the family members, proves to me that this is definitely my Ben and his father, Richard. with him being born in 1827, Richard Bagger Pagett was the only link that anybody who has helped me on my search could find around the possible dates. If we have the right Richard, which I'm hoping have after all this stress, then yes I think the could be the one in the Huttcroft website, but think he has the issue of Richards father wrong ( being Ben - glass blower from Amblecote ) The Benjamin I think is Richards father is the one born in 1776 in the same area of Bridgnorth. There is a one name study by a lady called Jenny Reeve who has that line all moving to Somerset and dying down there. There is a Benjamin Paget living with a family called Lane ( Richards wife Sarahs maiden name ) in the 1842 census which led me to believe the kids may have been left behind and the parents noved on as I could find neither hide nor hair of them afterwards. Confused - you will be....... Thanks in advance Gavin
