As there was no danger of this turning his life being turned upside down i've told my dad all about it, and where he is from today. He will not upset the apple cart by asking his sister for his papers, he won't apply for them. So i don't know wether this is a dead end, at the momment i'm sorting my mum's side out......why did people have soooo many children....lol....there's millions on my mums side, and most of them have very common surnames, plus i roped in 1 of my cousins....

Interesting... There are some stories behind all this.

Now that your dad knows his birth mother died shortly after he was born, perhaps he could confront his sister her with this and she might reveal more.

Your dad is entitled to his adoption paperwork. He could apply for it through the appropriate agencies, but his sister could save him the bother. It really isn't hers to keep.

He told us he didn't know he was adopted until he was about 10/11 in a row with his mum (adopted mum), not long after that apparently, his mum called him into front palour (as they were called in them days) she told him there was someone there to see him, it was a lady and gentleman, they told him that they were his real parents and did he want to go live with them, he refused. They also told him that they had got married after and had gone on to have more children. After that his mum made him promise never to look for them, and he never has, but years later just after my mum and dad were married, and my nan thought she was dying, she was going to tell my mum all about it, but made her promise never to tell my dad, which my mum disagreed with so she never said no more about it. Now my dad has a sister, she knows everything, and has all the paper work on his adoption and his family, but she also refuses to disscuss it, this is why i needed everything to be P/M until i could make a discission if i could or should put it on my board. There really isn't much to say about it, his real mum died 1940, her brother died 1942, and gweneth's mum, lillian, died 1950....
My scenario is that when the both children died they wanted my dad bk, after all, he was part of gweneth, maybe a family member pretended to be his parents.
Gweneths death cert, not a bad idea, i do know aboout her family history.
I do have my mums side to do, which looks like thats also going to be a daunting task, her grandmother married 3 times....lol....she was a taylor, then a simmonds, a cooke, and finally a carter, nice names huh, lol
sorry to drone on,
Jane

Very sad that Arthur and Lilian lost both of their children within 2 years.

Where did you get the info. that your dad's parents married and had more children?

Are you going to purchase Gwynneth's death cert?

As others have said, here and elsewhere, the advantage of the forum is people working together to solve the problem.
If we do not know what has been found, then we either duplicate the information or stop looking.
If we know what has been found, then we might be able to contribute to the problem by giving additional information that the original researcher has not come across.
It is the cumulative effort of several different people all working openly and co-operatively together that provide best results.
I do not like working on a problem feeling that important information is missing, and once a person has died we normally publish facts about them from the public domain.
I appreciate that embarrassment could be caused to surviving family members by the behaviour of others in the past, but you have introduced their names onto this website and have taken the decision to raise the matter.
You have said 'there is more to this than just finding lost relatives' - unfortunately this makes everything more opaque.
I have no wish to cause offence. I do not want anyone, either posters or helpers, to be upset, I just prefer to deal in straightforward facts.

Dear Flick
As i said in my private message to you yesterday the reason i wanted private messages is because there is more to this than just finding lost relatives. Not that finding a lost relative is any less important. I did post what i posted, i also requested information to be P/M, most of the postings have been visible but some haven't. You however have taken great offensive to this, you have been extremely rude, offensive and now i feel i'm being harrassed not only by you but you are also encouraging the public on Genes Reunited to also harrass me.
PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN!

Jane has taken exception to the posting of the bmd info about Glenys.......for what reason, I can't begin to speculate

If anyone can see anything offensive in the info, I'd be really grateful for a possible explanation.

Do you actually have your father's birth cert yet? You mentioned he had brothers and sisters but I only see one child from the Stooksbury/Speed marriage.

Jane,

The problem with sending you a message is that we don't know what others have worked on. If everything is posted here, work won't be duplicated.

Flick,

You appear to have once again chosen to ignore the OP's request for information by PM. (GLENYS STOOKSBURY, PLEASE PM ME.....)

You have obviously arbitrarily assumed that because the individual the OP is now enquiring about is no longer alive that it perfectly acceptable to ignore that request.

May I suggest that if anyone is being obtuse (Dictionary definition: Annoyingly insensitive or slow to understand) that it is you, not I.

Incidentally this was your initial comment regarding the PM that I had sent to the OP on 23/6:

"It would be helpful, Jonesy, if you indicated what info your PM contained..............."

This is your latest comment on the matter:

"It was only requested that you say which type of record you had sent by pm....no-one asked you to put the detailed info here."

I would suggest that "What info" is somewhat different to "Which type of record".
