Andy was just following a lead on the 1881 census where Alfred Hicks is down as a Nephew....


FMP marriages dosn`t even list Mary as a possible bride of George Sceiver,,,,just 1 male and 1 female...

The marriage is not on London Marriages either for Surrey.

Sorry am I missing something where did Barking come from.

I would say that Mary Ann Sceiver/Scivier is a sister of George who married Mary Tubess?

It's got to be a mistranscripion. The only Tubess that comes up on Ancestry is her marriage.
It's also the only Tubess on FreeBMD.

Have you got the birth certificates of any of the children, to see how Mary's maiden name is recorded?

Does she always give Barking as her place of birth ?

Can anyone shed any light on Benjamin Tubess for me?
On the marriage certificate for George Scivier (32)and Mary Tubess (26)dated October 27th 1879, Parish Church of St. Paul, Penge, Surrey. Mary's father is listed as Benjamin Tubess (deceased).
Both Mary and George are living at the same address at the time of their marriage. I can't find any records for either Mary or her father. In fact I can't even find the name Tubess. I have tried every combination in the book with regards to the spelling of the name, letters missed out, letters replaced with similar ones, name spelt phonetically and absolutely nothing. I've also looked at criminal, migration, and parish records to no avail. Any help at all would be very gratefully received.
