To MEgirl and Gai.
The information that you both have found fits with what i know.
Jessie Ainsworth Stark was my grandads sister.Jessie married a Frederick King in London and they had a daughter,Dorothy. After the untimely death of Fred jessie married George King in Brighton (uk).
The age difference you see is indeed correct George was much younger than his bride Jessie (lucky Jessie)
You have found where they went when they left England and what happened, thank you.
It appears that not so long after being back home in England George died.
If i pass my e-mail address to you are you able to e-mail me the information to me please, the newspaper report on Jessie`s death would be very interesting.
Also, how can i order a copy of Jessie`s death certificate from Austrilia ?

You also may be setting me in the right direction in finding Jessie`s
Brother and his wife who i think must have emmergrated from the UK as i cant see any record of them after marriage.
Regards,Kevin

Looks like George was by himself when he arrived in the UK as the image is typed and clearly states 27 years old and a butcher.

So they mystery is what happened to his father.

Kevin is there an age on the death certificate which ja novis was the informant?

How sad, they had only just arrived in 1912. (trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper)

The Sydney Morning Herald, Wednesday 11 September 1912
H.M.S. MACEDONIA AT FREMANTLE.
FREMANTLE, Tuesday.
The following passengers arrived today by the H.M.S. Macedonia from London -For Adelaide: Mr G. Novis, Mrs Novis and child...

Was there a child with George when he returned to the UK?

I have been looking in Brighton, Australia too. If Jessie was 46 when she died and the fellow on the passenger list was only 27, could this have been her son? Kevin, do you know when and where George Novis was born or his age at death?

I found the following in The Register, Adelaide, Wednesday 25/2/1914 - A report was made to the City Watchhouse on Tuesday by Dr. Violet Plummer that she had been summoned to the residence of George Novis, 201 Rundle Street, east, whose wife had died suddenly.

Sounds like it could be her.
