1861 Census- age 18- Winchester St Thomas Barracks-Winchester,Hampshire
1881 Census- age 39-Living at 42 Smith Street, Chelsea,London
At the time of marriage to Emma Carter (30) (widow) Thomas was 31 and shown as living at
18 Christchurch Street, London SW3 4AR.
Marriage was witnessed by George North (possibly brother of Emma) & Elizabeth (Brook?)
1891 Census shows Thomas to be 49 and Living at 15 Adeney Road, Fulham,London

This is info I have re Thomas Wallace. I don't know how many siblings he had or date of marriage to Emma Carter .Does this help?

The snag is that we have no idea of when or where William was born.

His son could have been the youngest of any number.........or the eldest.

I have not, as yet, managed to find the son before 1881.

When did he marry Emma? What was his address at the time?

Well thank you all so much for your help..just makes me realise how much of a novice I am.
I would have thought there were many to sift through.
Can I ask if anyone can find any census info on William, sorry to ask but I'm not going to get any sleep tonight if I don't tie this up.

You need that birth cert to confirm the mothers maiden name

What I have found so far is more luck than judgement.
Is there free access to the census records?

Have you found him on any census?

Eugenie

Eugenie Report 22 Apr 2011 22:01

Hi everyone,

I have been doing quite well so far but have come to a standstill.
I know my great great grandfather was called William Wallace but I can't find anything else. I do know he had a son in aprx 1842 called Thomas William Wallace so I am assuming William Wallace must have been born aprx 1820? His sons (Thomas)marriage certificate shows William as being a "Coachman"
The family all appear to originate in the Chelsea/Pimlico area of London.

I would love to find details of his marriage and better still his birth so I could go back another generation. I would imagine there was also more than the one son as well but I just don't know how to find out.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Eugenie
