Just as a point of interest, this appears in 1881 to be the MILLIGAN family that I found in 1871: |

Linda, you need to understand that names on census records back then are subject to many variations mainly due to general lack of literacy (even by the enumerators sometimes!). - Look at the Spinder/Spender variation on page 1. |

rootgatherer, yes this is her and strange she would revert back to previous married name, The John Mahoney would be my g/father and Kate my g/aunt. Since joining Genes I have found relations of the Heavey family, also Kate's family. Just want to know what happened to my gt gmother Mary Ann whether she be Mahoney or Heavey. |

It says on that 1901 census that she is married and the 3 boys are her sons. I am just wondering why she reverted to Mahoney when her younger sons are Heaveys? |

Mary ann was born in Ireland in 1852 to father Michael Mulligan b1827 Dublin, she also had a sister Sarah Ann b 2 qtr 1865 mid brompton I assume that is over here in London. |

We think in Ireland, she had previously been married to John Mahoney, who died, then she remarried Patrick Heavey and having several children from both marriages after Patrick died , whilst at work, we have been searching to find if she did infact marry again, as they seem to have done in those days to support the children etc. |
