Thank you so much Robert for this link. I found the whole document very interesting but especially page 64. I have printed off a copy of Albert's photograph and have recorded the details in my family history file. What a wonderful tribute to all the men and women of Brant County. |

This must have something to do with the family as it mentions Albert Mizon as father and sisters Ethel Beatrice and Emily |

Thank you Andy and Robert. Is there a way that I could research bmd in Canada myself? The obituary for Florence doesn't giveher place of birth and as her parents emigrated to Canada after the 1911 census, I can't really search there. The obituary states that there were a total 3 siblings that died in their infancy and another sister Ethel (McLeod). I know of one sibling that died in infancy but she was born in England and was Ethel & Albert's first born (also named Ethel Violet). I would love to be able to complete my research by finding the d.o.b. of their other children mentioned in Florence's obituary. The trouble is that I don't know when Ethel & Albert arrived in Canada (although 1912 seems to be a likely date) and I'm not sure if they lived all their lives in Brantford County/Paris. I know that they are both buried in Paris Cemetery but have no idea how long they lived there or if their children were born elsewhere in Canada. |

There are strict privacy laws in Canada doubt very much if you can get anything official after 1910. just doing obscure searches around the area where they resided. As I live about 150 km from there and know the general area I can look at ever expanding circles from Paris on the net. |

Thank you Robert. Here in the UK it is possible to search for bmd much later than that but I can appreciate the Canadian privacy laws. For most family history researchers, finding dates of a bmd is simply a way of completing the family tree but I can see that some unscrupulous people might have other motives. That is why I try to be careful about sharing my tree. My main interest is with my ancestors and their social history. In no way would I wish to intrude on those still living. |

Just to let you all know that I decided to post a message of condolence on an obituary for someone related to the Ethel Violet Lingwood and Albert Mizon I was looking for in Canada (thanks especially to Andy and Robert). As she died in 2008, I didn't expect anything to come of it but lo and behold I have today received several emails from other family members in Canada who have kindly sent photograph attachments as well. I have now made contact with them to share information. |
