I have info on my grandfather and i cannot find any marriage to my nan. Harold kenneth gibson dob 1923 30.may

lilian alvina waters dob 1920. 7.feb

i know that my grandfather had a previous partner and a daughter to his first (wife if married ) but i cannot find any info regarding this.

is there anyone that can enlighten me to see if anything is recorded or not .

Possible daughter born before first marriage of Lilian

Carol Bracher b 1943 Dec Q Cardiff 11a 519 (mothers maiden surname Waters)
This was wartime and maybe marriage was not possible untill later

And there is a Harold K Gibson born 1946 Dec Q Cardiff 8b 356 (MMS Waters) presumably born before the 1956 marriage

That would also be before Lilian's first marriage to William Bracher !

The plot thickens
There is an earlier marriage in Cardiff of Lilian A Waters to William E Bracher in 1939 Sep Q 11a 868

The second marriage in 1949 styles Lilian "Bracher or Waters"
Why would they marry twice?

Just a 'possibility' ?? - I had a couple who married twice because the first marriage was bigamous.

When the husband (or wife - I can't remember) died and they were actually free to marry, they married again for a second time - this time, legally.

Maybe that is the case here?

i have no idea on the first marriage of my grandfather only i know he had a daughter, havny found this info out yet as to names??????

but to sum it up you have all hit the nali on the head for me and confirmed some of what i have just been speaking with my mum about, i knew my aunty carol had a different father as someyears ago she had inheritance from him, but was never sure that my nan married or not or had a partner before my grandfather of harold gibson.

can you also clarify that susan gibson was born to lilian and harold in 1951 please, you all find out so much more info then me, and im platinum on here ,,,,,just how do you all do it so.....................


the only thing that complicates it that mt nanas (lilian) mother also married twice, her first was to charles sheasby.........or should i go onto another thread for that one .....................
