It seems now that in 1911 they are all living in Paddington at Grittleton Road, Still wondering how many children Walter and Marie had though, seems as though Marie's mother Mary had her fair share, nine, five still living in 1911 and four had died, how tragic. |

Great stuff thank you, still wondering what happened to Walter Edward Day born 1881 and found living in Letchworth in the 1911 census. Could anyone please find a death for him. Perhaps the family said he'd either died or was lost at sea to cover themselves as it appears he left his family at some point for whatever reason. |

Just had a thought, ouch that hurt, at the 21 Grittleton Road address does it show any other families living there. Out of interest does the name Rabette or Rabett show up please? It's just that the other side of my family, on my mother's side, I was adopted as a child so am really interested in tracing all my family, my mother was born a Rabette and I know that at one stage this address was given for my grandfather? |

I am getting really confused now, will have to take time and digest all this info. Maureen, is the last child at 21 Grittleton Road, Noel, Walter Day born 1903 the son of Walter and Marie then, if it is then he has been sent to live with the grandparents? Did you note I found a child Marie Helene born 1905 to Walter and Marie Day? |

Hi, these are the addresses I have come up with between 1901 and 1905, 44 Charteris Road, Islington N4 and 56 Borthwick Road U.D whatever the U.D. stands for but it is in the sub district of Hendon in the country of Middlesex. |

Right. So he's obviously the 1882 birth in Essex. I keep crossing paths with the Walter Edward Thomas chap. |

Kathryn, just as some people in this century insist on putting their religion as Jedi (possibly inaccurately), people years ago made mistakes in census, or put single incorrectly :-) |

Hi all, am back now, thanks again for all the information. What is Walter doing in 1911 claiming to be single? Very odd this one, have just found an old cert which says that they had a daughter in May 1905, Marie Helene, the birth is registered in Hendon and the address is given as 56 Borthwick Road, father is given as an Electrician, that fits with what you found recently Jonesey but his age seems to be out a couple of years unless of course my maths is wrong, so much for me being told he either died or was lost at sea and someone had said he was a Captain!! The mystery thickens. Not sure if they had any other children before Walter actually went off to be single? |
