A bit of research has revealed that my 3rd cousin Phyllis M Bungay (b. 1926) married a Reynold A Casaleggio in Berkshire in 1945. I have a subscription at Ancestry but not for overseas records; Ancestry has suggested that a Phyllis M Casaleggio travelled to/from the USA and was resident in NJ. Thanks so much Lindsey and Maddie.
So, they originally left for America in 1946, not long after the wedding.
And came back to England in Sept 1950, before departing pretty swiftly again, in Oct 1950. I'm wondering whether Reynold was an American GI or something, as they married right at the end WW2. Very interesting; thanks again for the info.
