Hi rootgather, |

Sorry, I should also have said that if both those birth registrations refer to the same child then one was made in the area of her birth and the other in the area of her mother's usual residence. |

If the informant was Mary Campbell on Alexandrina's birth certificate it should say the relationship to the child. That would be normally be done on Scottish birth registrations. |

Sorry, Susan, no luck with George (or Alexander!). I can only find one George (or Alexander) Anderson of the right age in 1871 who had an occupation anything like George's but he is still in Scotland with his wife in 1881. |

Hi Potty Yes I think you could be right Potty a brick wall???? Someone sent me some info for an Alexandrina Hyatt died Sept 1939 in Camberwell London I think this could be my Alexandrina as she married a William Hyatt. I must admit I am very confused with it all to be honest I thought that when I purchased the birth cert and found Marys maiden name it would be a little bit simpler than its actually been. |

Hi Potty have looked on Scotlandspeople and you are right those 2 births are one of the same child Alexandrina Mary Weir. The image showed me that she was illegitimate born on JUne 4th at 49 Richard Street Glasgow born to Mary Weir a Domestic Servant then it says Mary Campbell Mother? |

I have told Susan by PM that I will post all the previous censuses for Mary Weir. I have also suggested that she look at the two births for Alexandrina in 1875. I have a feeling they refer to the same person and if she is shown as illegitimate and the daughter of Mary Weir, she could be the Alexandrina we are looking for. |

I wonder if this Mary. I can find her on all the censuses from 1841 to 1871 but not in 1881. Stralachlan is about 13 miles from Kilmun, which she seems to have given as her POB on one of the censuses: |
