just noticed that she was born in 1885 so maybe the marriage is her mothers |

on the marriage certificate it does state father William Ewin deceased but as you say he could have been her step father. now i will have to find if theres a birth certificate for Mary ann short in 1885.thanks so much for your help |

thats amazing Mike so she was married to Thomas harris in 1880 hence the name harris on her marriage certificate had no idea |

I dont have it but she married a Thomas Talbot and showed up on the 1901 census with him but she had been married previously to a Thomas Short and widowed . |

A strange thing ive been told by my sister is that she believes the daughters name was Mary ann harris but on her marriage certificate it states William Ewin (deceased) as her father. |

Lynda, even if spelt Ewin on cert it could vary - Ewen, Ewing, and probably many more! Spelling was a lot more casual back then. |
