Just contacted my son.in.law his father David was born in 1946 in Basildon. His grandparents were Margaret and Horace Claude Marshall . |

As MadBull says you need to make sure that you are researching the right family. Your best bet is to get a copy of Horace & Margarets marriage cert that will confirm Horace's father's name and occupation. If you are sure that you have the right birth a copy of his birth cert will give you mother's and father's name. |

I wouldn't jump to conclusions, Angela. I only posted that as a possible. I think, as Lindsey says, you need to buy Horace's birth certificate to get his father's name. Nothing worse than following the wrong family. |
