I've just stumbled across this. My grandfather was Eliza's Nephew.
They didn't have children or if they did it appears from the will that Eliza outlived them!

I would certainly order the death certificate I posted above

If nothing else it would rule out that person as being the one you are searching for

if there was enough information on the certificate (like full middle name) that the details did match, the name of the informant could give you some useful information

I posted Eliza's birth and marriage to show how absolutely consistent the death was with her other records, by name and age.

I am wary of family tales about marrying beneath, being sent to the colonies, etc, lol.

I was looking for about 1880,s thinking that if they were banished to Canada I might find someting about children but have drawn a blank. Perhaps they never had any children. Thank you anyway Angela

Have you looked for this couple in Canadian records? I don't see them in the 1881 or 1901 census, for example.
