You have been struck by the mad copy&pasters, lol

Have you looked for this couple in Canadian records? I don't see them in the 1881 or 1901 census, for example.

Births Dec 1856
Fairchild Eliza Dinah Southampton 2c 4

Marriages Sep 1877
Fairchild Eliza Dinah T Marylebone 1a 1049

so is this not likely her death?

Deaths Dec 1942
Sheffield Eliza D 86 Lewisham 1d 778

mind you I don't see a death that looks like Henry.

However, there is no other marriage of an Eliza D to a Sheffield, and no birth of an Eliza D Sheffield.

Hi Chrissiex
Thanks for your reply I Have the marriage and birth details of this couple and have looked on some Canadian Sites . I was looking for about 1880,s thinking that if they were banished to Canada I might find someting about children but have drawn a blank. Perhaps they never had any children. Thank you anyway Angela

............ and the 1942 death I posted above ................. ?

I appreciate that you have the marriage and birth details.

I posted Eliza's birth and marriage to show how absolutely consistent the death was with her other records, by name and age.

I am wary of family tales about marrying beneath, being sent to the colonies, etc, lol.

researching is fun, but if you want answers ............ !

I would certainly order the death certificate I posted above

If nothing else it would rule out that person as being the one you are searching for

if there was enough information on the certificate (like full middle name) that the details did match, the name of the informant could give you some useful information

Hello Angela
I've just stumbled across this. My grandfather was Eliza's Nephew.
They didn't have children or if they did it appears from the will that Eliza outlived them!
