i would be very care careful with other trees.
there is one on ancestry who does not know details of her own grandmother ranks herself as an expert erroneously attaches herslf to OH's tree on investigation she has greek god and goddesses in her tree.
other trees may help but they may also be in error.
prove everything yourself.

To be honest, I'm wondering whether
a) Charles Peacock on the 1841 has just been chosen because he was born ca 1820 ......... he's a Blacksmith! Nothing mentioned about beign a farmer.
b) where the information came from that Demetrius' father was called Charles, and his father was called Charles
That Emory tree does not seem to have any documentation!

I can find no Charles Peacock born Manchester ca 1820 who was the son of a farmer ..... the only one of that age that I found was living with his mother in Manchester, father not present, and occupation Blacksmith.
The 1841 Census does not give relationships, or status, so no way of telling whether the older woman was a widow or not, or even whether she was that Charles Peacock's mother.
I can find no marriage around 1841 + / - 5 years in Lancashire for a Charles Peacock.
I cna find no Charles Peacock b. ca 1820 on either the Lancs opc site nor the familysearch site.
I did find the Rod Emory tree on ancestry, and note that it mentions the name of "Dmitri" mother
Charles Peacock Birth in Lancashire, England Death in Russia
Spouse & Children
Concordia Schlegel
Dmitri Rudolf Peacock 1842 – 1892
It wuld be good to know just where the evidence came from for his birth in Lancashire.
There are many more Charles Peacocks from other parts of the UK than from Manchester
and Manchester, even in 1820, was not exactly a place of farms!

Hi Sylvia in Canada! Thanks for helping.
I think you're right.
I now have it that Charles Peacock, the father of Demetrius Rudolf Peacock (1842-1892) - was born in 1820 in Manchester, Lancashire according to the 1841 census.
Also, in the Emory Family Tree it notes: Charles Peacock, Birth: Lancashire. Death: Russia.
So that must be him.
When Charles Peacock left Lancashire for Russia, he had just got married to a local girl, and apparently he was 'unemployed' at the time - though I don't know why this was so, in view of the fact that his father was a farmer in Lancashire.
Charles would have left for Tambov Province (Oblast) in Russia in about 1843. He was responding to the Jobs Vacant section in his local Lancashire newspaper.
I don't know the name of his wife of his mother.
Best Wishes, Allan

Allan
Have you got your dates correct for Demetrius' father??
This is on the new familysearch site, death of Demetrius, and it says he was born in 1842 .................. which doesn't fit with what you said about his father Charles being born ca 1837
record title: Russia Deaths and Burials, 1815-1917
name: Demetrius Rudolph Peacock gender: Male death date: 11 May 1892 death place: Odessa, Russia age: 50 birth date: 1842 occupation: Consul General,Odessa indexing project (batch) number: B01499-1 system origin: Russia-EASy source film number: 1494318
His father would have had to have been born at least by 1822.
I can find no Charles Peacocks from Lancashire.

Lynne! You're a marvel!
Thank you so much.
I knew I had an Uncle 'Willie' in Canada who was my mother's brother. He had a son, Danny or Daniel - but that's all.
You've also discovered Mary Peacock and others that I never knew of.
I'm now going to add these names to the huge chart I've been making of my family tree.
It's great that you've also unturfed my mother's mother's name, as this now allows me to start tracing my French Connection.
My mother's cousins were Simone and Lucien, living respectively in the village of Sos in southern France, and in Agen in the province of Lot-et-Garonne.
I'll be chasing these up.
I'm hoping to be able to present our family tree to my 36yo niece who doesn't know I'm doing this.
The last time she visited me she asked about her family tree, and I gave her a miserably poor little chart that I had made up years ago - full of errors and very skinny on information.
After she had left, I felt I had let her down badly. She deserves better than that. She herself had studied hard to get a doctorate in science, and I felt I should at least make the effort to present her with a halfway decent Family Tree chart.
Thanks heaps, Lynne!

Thank you Lynne.
There should be two more siblings besides Charles, Henry, Elias Herbert, and Elizabeth.
I would like to know the name of Elias Herbert's wife, who was French. She began the French line of my family tree. Her sister's name was Madeleine.
Regards, Allan

Yes Lynne - Henry and Elias Herbert are definitely brothers. Elizabeth Peacock I didn't know of.
Demetrius Rudolph Peacock managed a farming estate in Mashuk, Russia for the owner, Mikhail Ivanovich Petrunkevich - who was married to a Yelizaveta.
Demetrius's father was Charles Peacock (born c1837) who around 1860 arrived in Russia from Lancashire to fill a job vacancy as a farm manager.
His father was a Lancashire farmer, also named Charles Peacock, born c1814.

Well done, Lynne! :)
That's definitely him.
Tatiana's father was Ilya Bakunin who I believe was the brother of Mikhail Aleksandrovich Bakunin, the Anarchist.
A grand-niece of Bakunin was Tatiana Ossorguine-Bakounine who lived in Paris as a Russian emigre. She wrote a book : 'L'Emigration Russe en France... '
