You are right, he was a dyer (unemployed) on an earlier census, and the Thomas I tracked to Wakefield 1891, Stockport 1901-1911 was also a dyer. |

Thanks LK but, as Flip says, - those marriages are for yet another Thomas. |

on the 1881 that Lambert started with Thomas was a dyer and I think that could be the clue. |

Think this iss the Thomas on the 1891 census, with parents Joseph & Elizabeth, but the one Lambert was looking for had mother Jane, and is 10 years older than this one: |

I realise that but I am making sure we can eliminate them. I think you are on the right track too Flip. |

I think these 2 marriages are for a yet another different Thomas, the age is wrong as he was 24 according to the 1883 marriage. The one we were trying to eliminate was married to Mary Ann, and found on census with her. |

I am certain you have gone a little bit astray here with your tree - this is very easily done, and I DO hope I have not offended you by saying this ! |

I too believe that is the one Lambert is following - I have also followed him back to John + Margaret. - I do not believe this is the one with Joseph on 1881 !! |

I think this may be the Thomas you are looking at, the 1891 census has him born Croft, so this could be him 1881 in Leigh: |
