Hi David..........as you will see, Joseph and Sarah marrried in 1858 and if you check the birth of William on FreeBMD you will see that he was obviously born out of wedlock in 1857.... (Hence his mothers maiden name of Little)

What you need to do now David, to find exactly who William married, Delete Williams name from the search boxes and the date range....under the date range, enter the vol and page No's which is Vol 9d Page 631 and click search......Scroll down to the year 1881 and you will find who William married.

And that is how it is done!!

i am struggling to understand page 4,i have got to william leckenby dob 1856 married to jane leckenby dob 1857 but dont understand or perhaps appreciate the facts posted about who there parents are etc plus post from helen mentioning leckenby little rather throws me, but it does tie in with the fact william and janes offspring are listed as leckenby on census but registered as littles! and why my grand father changed his name by deed in 1941 to leckenby but my dad is registered as a little but always known as gerald leckenby all his life! i am sure there are much much much better people on here who can understand and unravel,thank you!

WORKING BACKWARDS FROM YOUR LAST POST PRICKLYHOLLY, OOPS CAPS!
hannah and james wass had a daugher chrisitened on 18 may 1806, who then married thomas leckenby on 24 april 1830, but i am not sure what happened from there
plus i am intrigued by the earlier post from helen regarding the possible use of leckenby little name as this may fall in with my fathers birth name.there has been some reason why he was named little and not leckenby and i would love to trace the history.
