Also, London Metropolitan Archives hold copies of patients records for the hospital but you have to pay them for copies - you're not allowed to copy them yourself. |

There is a WWI medal card at Ancestry for a Walter H Woodley, private, regtl no. 202835, in the Hampshire Regiment. He was awarded the standard Victory and British medals. There is no other info there that would indicate whether he is your Walter or not. There are medal cards for other Walter Woodleys, again, no indication of their identity. |

There is a Cpl Walter Woodley whose records are at Ancestry. I'm going through the images ... do the addresses 5 Umberstone St Commercial Rd E and 48 Grange Rd Bermondsey mean anything? They were his wife's addresses during the war. This WW was discharged as no longer physically fit for war duty. |

On the question about the ship being sunk -- yes indeed, "troop ships" were sunk, so you're right, he wasn't necessarily in the navy. |

Walter was definitely a master carpenter. We have a single inlaid wooden box made by him and he is sai d to have been employed particularly in the making of fancy staicases in many of Londons best hotels and shops. It doesn't look as if his war records are going to be found, I have tried eveything I can think of but no joy.If we can't finf him can you find a war record of his father Henry George- he was very good at handling men I beleive? |

You have all the correct information, and the dates fit in. Do you think I would be able to get a death cert which would give a cause of death- can you acess hospital records do you think? |
