Have you been on to this site? Unfortunately you have to pay $8 for a month's subscription to view records but there was a David Mctaggart who was a plantation owner in St Anns in 1840. There are earlier records for McTaggarts but I can't access them. |

Yes you can do it now, just go to your 1st query click on the edit sign, you can then change your heading to include Scotland. |

They certainly had big families years ago. Did you verify the information that you were given? Quite often things were mixed up between members of the family, (it happened in my family). |

Yes it must be and there is some confusion over the name. The letter writer has since passed away but she was very helpful. Isabella's daughter had a child out of wedlock before she married William Haberecht so now I have found another child to the original Isabella - that now makes 9. My father comes from 16 and I from 7 - we definitely helped populate australia. |

I think I have been given incorrect information as you have John as the father. The family letter I have received from a very elderly family member has the details from has the father of Herbert Thomas as being the daughter of Isabella born 1845 prior to her marriage to a Haberecht but this looks incorrect and either the birth certificate is false or it was the last born of Isabella and John Rigg. I think you have found something here. |

Can anyone help with Isabella McTaggarts parents. Her Death Certificate says Father Mac Taggart Planter (in other words a slave owner). |

The only proof of birthplace is on her death cert and it states born Jamaica father Mac Taggart a Planter. The family was from Scotland and Isabella returned to Kirkcudbright for her wedding to John Rigg 10/4/1838. I have this entry. The family then travelled to Australia and I am a direct descendant from their last child Henry Alfred Rigg born 31/3/1859 Donnybrook Melbourne. I would like to find out more about Isabella. I have traced John Rigg back 3 generations in Scotland but cannot find anything more about Isabella. |
