Hello! I am tyring to find anyone in my Anders line who were quite numerous but seem very hard to find! My Nan is Florence Lloyd (nee Anders, b1914) and her parents were Leah Beadle (nee Harris, b1875) and Frederick Albert Anders (b1878). They lived in Islington and he at one time was a ploiceman. Her siblings were Edna Eileen Anders and Katherine Georgina Anders, step siblings were Hector Beadle, Sophia Georgina Beadle, Elsie Adelaide Beadle and Ida Laura Katherine Beadle. However its Fredericks family who are even more interesting! His father was Henry Anders (b1842) and Mary Ann Eliza Carter (b1846). They lived in Chelsea. He was a reporter/journalist though I dont know who/what with and he was a board member of the original Abbey Road (later Abbey national) building society - I have pictures of him thanks to my Mum asking about it one day when she was working at Abbey National (I dont think she had believed my Nan!) Anyway Henry had quite a number of Anders children: Elga, Helen, Henry, Herbert, Agnes, Amy, Frederick, Leonard, Charles and Beatrice dating from 1869 to about 1885

Cannot see any mention of Polly or any name it could be a nickname for which is normally for the name Mary

Then again there was nothing stopping any of the girls calling themselves Polly if they wanted to

Yeah I thought it as a long shot but I gave it a try anyway.

Yes I'm trying that no but my internet connection's not being too kind to me at the mo (mobile broadband dongle)

I'm starting to think this Polly Anders could be a red herring, or might be another name as I have to great aunties still alive that go by completely different names to their birth ones!

The Frederick and Elsie ones look to be 100% so I'm going to send off for their birth certs.

"I have found another member's post from 2005 that seems to fit ith more children so I've messaged her about that."

First, the likelihood that you'll reach that member is minimal. In 5+ years, most people change their email address a couple of times, and virtually nobody remembers to tell GenesReunited the new one. So the person won't receive a notice of your message. And the turnover is very high here, so it's unlikely that person is still actively checking the site.

If you sent a private message by clicking on the person's name, you can tell whether the message has been read by looking in your Sent Messages. If the envelope beside it is still purple, it hasn't been opened. (If you posted in the thread, no notice of that is sent anyway.)

Could you do what I suggested?

The URL for this thread is
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/trying_to_find/wilson/thread/1252180
-- up top in the white address line.

Can you copy the URL for the thread you're talking about into this thread?

There may be useful info there. Or there may be utter bumph that some of us could quickly discount. Unless we know what you know about that too, there's nothing we can say about it. I've tried searching the TTF board for Polly Anders, but found nothing.

Sorry this is my first time using the genes reunited forums, so apologies if I haven't given all the correct information.

Unfortunately I don't really know much about this side of the family, as I said my grandmother didn't have anything to do with her and she died when I was 7.

Re the Polly name - this is what my mother's cousin gave me, apparently she remembers the daughter Elsie and another Polly visiting my Grandmother and Great aunty when they were young but that's all I know.

As for Adelaide's mother I think I might have my wires crossed I think I got that from a census result, my apologies again, but he was listed as a Roadsweeper, I can't get to that information at this moment in time as my mother's away and has that.

Also I'll try that link JaneyCanuck thanks.

Great advice so far, sorry if I'm causing any problems! Not intended! Just grateful for any help on this side!

Shed any light on her parents? Adelaide's? Have you got her marriage certificate / birth certificate?

Ah, Rose has answered that question.

I don't know what's happening tonight.

If people want other people to help them find information, ***give the information you have*** !!!!!

Do not make / expect strangers to go hunting for what **you know**.

Could you give us the link to this other thread about a Polly, please, so we can see what that is too, and not just remain in the dark about what you're talking about.

If you had that info you did'nt mention she had a son, and you may have it but we do not so it is easier to trace back by having some solid facts to go by

Really quick way to find out whether there were more children to the marriage.

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

Search for births with surname ANDERS and mother's surname WILSON.

There are two with those names after 1911 (when mother's surname started to be included in the index). Oops. One of them, 1913, you know, and not a child of the marriage. ;) (The other is in Lancashire.)

So if they didn't have another child after 1911 and there isn't another daughter in the household in 1911 ... ?

Bu the way -- "yes, I've got this information thank you" -- the information you gave was incomplete, then, because you didn't give daughter Elsie's name and you didn't mention Frederick, so there was no reason to think you knew them, and jax went looking and "found" them for you.
