Not sure but it would seem that at least two generations of Tennant brothers went to the US, now I just need to find out what happened to the rest of them, thanks for your help, has been a fascinating little progression. Do we have any matches? Mark. |

Well done. That's solved that little mystery. I wonder if John died in the US and Louisa was sent back to grandparents. |

have found a richard tennant, maybewalton's brother on the 1880 us Census with both him and his wife agnes (and parents) all born in England. The birth year 1815 fits in too. Will look for their marriage. am going off at a tangent too lol but is interesting |

Yes, I'm wondering that as I can't find him on any census, or a death. |

Louisa must have been the daughter of either John, Samuel, James or Richard, the brothers of Walton. Looks like two generations of the family went to or stayed in America. I am presuming Richard c1791 died before 1851 being only on the 1841 census though am starting to wonder if he spent time in the US too.................... |

Fantastic, you are a star! I know Walton spent time in the USA which is probably why he disappears from some census. I got that from an account of Arthur his son from an Illinois publication; |

Has this child any close connection to Walton? She is living/staying with another two siblings of Walton's. |

Sorry, my slip-up. Thought you meant Mary, wife of Richard, went to Chicago. |

Hi Ozibird, Walton died around 1886 in Manchester and as far as I can gather, his son Richard went to Chicago in 1887 with Walton's widow Eliza following with other children in 1887/88. I can only confirm Charles Thomas Tennant that stayed as he was my great great grandfather. Some reportedly made money but lost it in the wall st. crash. Walton & Eliza's son Arthur married into the famous Weld family (marrying Ella Mae) and living in De Witt, Clinton, Illinois. I have photos of Eliza and her sons taken at a chicago photographers. I have so much info it is so frustrating not be able to progress beyond Richard and Mary. It looks like Richard, John, Arthur, Walter & william (married De Lora Maclamore from Kentucky) all went to USA with only CT staying in Horwich. Mark. |

Mark when did the family go to Chicago? Which ones stayed in England? |

The sons are not triplets. They were just baptised together. 1841 census has them as different ages. |
