Well what I was trying to say tactfully was How do we know that George was a widower and not a divorcee? We don't really know for sure and widower was considered to look better on a marriage than divorcee! |

Susan, I don't think that I would order that death certificate just yet. While I am a great believer in buying the certificates to work from fact, I just don't think that there is enough "evidence" that this is your Lily. Hang on until you get her marriage certificate please. When you get that we can try to find her birth and find her with her parents in 1911. Her marriage certificate will hopefully give you her father's name and occupation and we can work from that. |

Hi Susan, I had a look at your other thread and I am wondering why George waited so long before marrying for the second time if his second wife was the mother of your aunt but not of your father who was born later. Until you find a death for Lily your only reason for thinking that George was a widower was because that is what he stated on his second marriage. |

The person who registered the death should be on the certificate, it could be a relative or it could be an official |
