Christine, it looks like you're editing your first post on this thread to ask for new information. Trouble with that is it's not immediately obvious that it's new. Best thing to do is just to add a new post to the bottom of the thread saying what the new info is that you require. |

Something top bear in mind - on the 1871 census that I posted where Selina is with the Evans she is down as the daughter. I've just had a look at the original 1871 census and her marital status is "widow" so I'm assuming she would be Selina Evans at birth. |

Thank you Ann-Marie I had not thought about sensible logic. I'm trying to establish who William's mother is. If she was a Lewis (married name) she would not have registered William as an Evans? Or is logic not reigning again?? |

If she is William's mother then he may have been born before she married. |

Thank you Ann-Marie, food for thought. Would there be a possibility of seeing if Selina Evans gave birth to William in 1856/57? Or is this trying to find a needle in a haystack? |

Thank you again Ann-Marie. So in 1871 Mrs Evans Snr had two married daughter's living with her just wondering which sister was married to William's actual father? |

Christine, all of the census gives William's birthplace as Warminster c1859. |

Thank you Catherine but I believe Selina to be born an Evans as it ties up well she must have married a Mr Lewis as set out in Ann-Marie's possibility. This looks promising, he didn't last long 2 years. So if she had an illegimate son, then married, widowed in two years and married again she was a pretty busy girl! |

In 1871 there's a James Jay, married but with out his wife (could she be Louisa visiting her family): |

Ann-Marie, this maybe a long shot but William eventually marries Elizabeth (who was born in Warminster) and has a daughter Wilhermina Louisa Evans she was my Aunt and John Harold William Evans (my father). Is the reason Wilhermina has been given a middle name of Louisa???? |
