Oh and Vanessa, no we've never had a Zachariah in the family.
And can anyone give me advice how to trace people born in South Africa since, I know there was a Thomas Howlett born around 1828 and there has been one every generation since, the last being born on 4th October 1979, Unfortunately I can't find the TH's dates of birth that go in between.

By any chance did any of your Warren Family have a Zachariah born c 1800 - 1805. He married a Mary Brown and was a bookbinder & stationer in London Street, London.

A tree on Ancestry says that Thomas Howlett Warren born 1731 was son of George Warren & Elizabeth Howlett.
He married Elizabeth Stringer and had son Thomas Howlett Warren born 1760 and married Lucy Tidmarsh.
They had son Thomas Howlett Warren born 17 Aug. 1793 and died 13 Aug. 1888, Eastern Cape, South Africa. he married Maria Theresa Olivier and had 6 children.

Thank you both for looking, Anne it looks like you've found our missing link, I thought there must have been a Thomas Howlett in that generation, but we couldn't find him anywhere. Thank you, now to find out where he went, I think he must be the South African one.

I have found the marriage of Thomas Howlett Warren to Elizabeth Stringer (1738) in Kew in 1759, I think they had 1 son Thomas Howlett (1767) who married Lucy Tidmarsh (1765) I don't know when they married but they had 4 children. One of whom Joseph had a grandchild also called Thomas Howlett Warren, but their seems to be a 2 generation gap without the name.
The name Thomas Howlett Warren also appears as a 74 year old South African in the Boar War, and I can follow that line to present day, but we don't know when it started. There must be some connection with my 1734 TH but I don't know what? I'd like to find out more about 1734 TH, how many children he had etc. but I'm stuck and could do with some suggestions. Please
